Close to twenty years ago, I stumbled across a training system by American magician and memory expert, Harry Lorayne.
It wasn't just his systems that inspired me, but a few of his observations on what makes a 'good' or a 'bad' memory.
I decided to apply his teaching to my own studies and situation at the time and was impressed with what a huge impact such a small change had made in my life as a young mother, student and budding business woman.
By nature, I like to test the boundaries and extent of my own understanding, so I took the simple structure of Harry's teaching and asked some 'scientific' questions. From this came the Total Recall Memory Training system.
What were those questions?
- Why do children seem to have a better memory than adults?
- Why can we remember some things first time but struggle with recalling information that is repeated over and over?
- What happens when we decide that we have a 'bad memory'?
- What part does imagination play in memory storage and recall?
- Who can benefit from developing a 'deliberate' trained memory?
- Is there anyone who cannot use this system?
So - a little bit about me.
My name is Wendy Rose. I am a mother of three adult children and have three lovely grand daughters.
Although I have had several jobs over the course of my working life, it was becoming a mother that changed the way that I would work forever. I needed to create my own income so that I could be the mother that I wanted to be. I did not want to work outside of the home any more than I had to.
In 1992, computers were not yet 'in every home' and information technology as we know it was just a baby beginning to show it's face to the world. My first solo enterprise was to collect treated sheepskin off-cuts that were used in the manufacture of Ugg boots, car seat covers, clothing and toys from the factory that would have otherwise thrown them away. I packaged them into twenty kilogram bags and sold them to kindergartens, craft groups, small manufacturers and even a puppet maker.
Later, I started a manufacturing business called "Wendy's Floral Glass Dimensions".
I made decorative wall mirrors of various shapes and sizes with dried and silk flower arrangements. When I became a little more creative, I decorated some with ceramic figurines such as bath tubs, trucks, planes, mugs, dolls and even children's names. My favourites were the teddy bears climbing ropes and getting into mischief.
These I sold in markets, craft stalls and by party plan for a few years until I sold the business.
For more than ten years after the close of this business, I administrated a charity in Cambodia which I ran from my home office in South Australia and raised funds by public speaking, craft stalls and even as "Muddles the Clown". The charity soon got too big for me to run and was taken over by two other established charities.
This is when I found myself with a bunch of skills that I had picked up along the way but with no idea how to turn them into an income.
I began 'SEO Professional' where I took company websites from online junk mail to top three ranking in Google in a very short space of time. When my marriage ended, I closed the company and accepted a position with one of my SEO clients managing his business while I also completed my Bachelor of Applied Social Science in Counselling.
Although I had used the memory training in my daily life and had also taught some of the basic skills to a small group on a weekly basis for a while, it has only been recently that I have been able to back myself in bringing this system to the public.
I have always been motivated by seeing that light bulb, life changing moment in people's eyes when they realise that they have abilities beyond their own beliefs - that they have the power to change their own world.
Being a part of that is both humbling and exhilarating so when I tell you that this will work for you, you had better believe that I am invested in your outcome.
Thanks for spending the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to meeting you very soon.
Wendy
